Living the Dream

Back from the long awaited holiday. We went to Southern Germany in the campervan. The weather was atrocious on the way down but did improve when we got there. We stayed at the above site and cycled into Fussen and the surrounding countryside on the excellent Radwegs.

We then swung right past the Bodensee and through the Black Forest , climbing Feldberg from the ski resort at its foot.

Lunch was eaten whilst an old German man told us how he had been in a prison of war camp in Shropshire. I'd tried not to mention the war..........

More rain followed in the journey up through France so lots of Flunches were eaten and a great time was had by all.

Loved southern Germany - we stayed at Unterkirnach in the Black Forest as well as Heimbach and Monschau in the Eifel National Park which is north west Germany. Great for campervans and motorhomers, Germany. Stellplätze are superb there.

Thanks for that Maz. Just looked up Stellplatze. We usually go to France so know about the Aires. Will have to research the Stellplatze for next time.

This is your best resource then - http://www.promobil.de/reise/stellplaetze-in-deutschland.276476.7.htm - just click on the blue van icons to zoom into the map (whenever there is a + symbol) and then, eventually, each individual Stellplatze will be displayed. Also, think about getting the Reise Mobil Bord Atlas. it's in German but Google translate wil resolve that for you. The entries are voluminous and just detailed enough. We got ours in Bad Durrheim.
